A Little Holiday

I will be taking a little break from blogging as we are getting married this weekend in Palm Springs and then going on our honeymoon for a full week. The plan is to not check email or voicemail and I have to say I’m really excited for that.

We are so excited for the wedding and happy that the planning stages are over. Even though we had a very low stress experience, it’s nice to know that all of our efforts and detail are going to pay off on Saturday, and we just get to enjoy the day and evening. Friends and family are coming from as far as Liverpool and Dublin, which is so special, and New York, Florida, Colorado and Maryland. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience!

See you in April!

Gifted Ones: Stew & The Negro Problem

On Friday night, Tim took me to see Stew & The Negro Problem perform at UCLA’s Royce Hall. I was only familiar with Passing Strange, the Tony Award-winning musical and film by Spike Lee. The show was fantastic thanks to an incredible horn section, Stew’s hilarious personality and the fact that we were two of the youngest people there (lately it’s been the reverse which doesn’t always feel great — I’m talking to you Girl Talk.)

Their latest release, Making It, is now available. It’s all about Stew and bassist Heidi Rodewald’s breakup (she’s still in the band), which made for some awkward, but tender moments.
