My friend Emily turned me onto Warby Parker, the makers of affordable and super stylish eyewear and sunglasses. Since I don’t personally wear glasses (but may, ahem, own 20+ pairs of sunnies) of course I’m drawn more to these babies. But, it’s worth having a look at the entire new collection — 8 optical frames and 14 sunglasses with awesome names — which is inspired by the Coney Island boardwalk and summer fun. Plus, for every pair sold, a pair is given to someone in need.
Side note: Their frames would make a great Father’s Day gift as well (think Don Draper on vacation in Hawaii).
Today and tomorrow, save 20% off at Shopbop, which is one of my absolute favorite online destinations. Just enter the code WEAREFAMILY13 — you can even use it on sale items. I’m coveting Splendid’s Congo Flat Sandals ($66; now $52.80) and Alice + Olivia’s Bow Back Tunic Dress ($242; now $233.60), pictured above.
I’ve learned a lot of things from my parents over the years. One of my favorite lessons is the value of a good eye mask. Whether you’re traveling or simply trying to sleep past 7am on the weekends, a small piece of fabric (preferably silk) can help you snooze like a pro by blocking out light.
The other day my Dad was wearing these amazing black Cole Haan shoes that had neon yellow soles. It was such a fresh and unexpected design that I had to investigate further. There is indeed an entire collection for men and women featuring all sorts of colorful hues and styles. Plus, Cole Haan makes some of the most comfortable shoes thanks to Nike technology (Tim wore a pair for our wedding.)
Inspired by artist Dan Colen, I created this piece of art for Tim, and finally made use of all of the lipsticks I often forget to wear. This is an easy (and pretty romantic) gift to give your partner this holiday season. Start with lighter shades to make it easy on yourself and then put in a frame with a white matte. The whole thing took about five minutes, which is my kind of art/craft project.
Working Man’s Hygiene Kit, $50; Beats by Dre Studio Over Ear Headphone, $299.95; Jack Spade Mill Leather Dopp Kit, $155; Ray-Ban Polarized Top Bar Aviator Sunglasses, $239; Nixon The Chronicle Stainless Steel Watch; $350; J.Crew Cashmere-Lined Leather Gloves; $88

I was recently asked about gift ideas for guys that go beyond the traditional options such as ties or barbecue accessories. I love picking out gifts for the men in my life and try to select items that they wouldn’t normally treat themselves to (designer socks, nice toiletry bags and skincare, for example.)
I recently started a For Him Pinterest board if you want to check out other ideas.
My good friend Emily told me about Warby Parker, a revolutionary concept in eyewear that produces vintage-inspired, chic frames for $95 (free shipping and home try-ons included!) I don’t wear prescription glasses myself, but almost everyone in my life does, and I never understood why they often cost $250+. Businesses like Warby Parker are what makes the internet so great.
If you prefer to visit their showroom in person, there are numerous locations around the U.S. Los Angeles has two outposts: Los Feliz and Downtown. Since they make sunglasses too, everyone can get in on the affordable action. Oh, and they also give a pair to someone in need for every pair that is purchased.
I don’t have any tattoos. I can’t think of anything I would want to put on my body for life, but I can appreciate people who love them. What I can definitely get behind are these adorable Tattly Designy Temporary Tattoos for kids and adults. With over 250 designs to choose from, these would make awesome party favors, birthday gifts or stocking stuffers.
